What Is a Wax Melt?
A wax melt is a scented piece of wax, much like what you’d find in a candle jar - but without the wick! To fill your home with fragrance, you simply warm up and melt the wax melt using either an electric burner or a tealight heated burner.
Wax melts are becoming more and more popular and many now favour wax melts over candles as the best way to make your home smell beautiful.
How to Use a Wax Melt
If using an electric burner, place a piece or two of your favourite wax melt into the dished area of the burner. Next, you can simply switch the burner on to heat and melt the wax, releasing the fragrance, filling the room with a beautiful aroma.
Electric burners are a great flame-free option. Some wax melt users with young kids, for example, favour these burners as they’re viewed as a safer alternative. Electric burners dont get as hot as traditional candle burners so it can take a little longer for your wax melt to fully liquify.
If using a classic tealight heated burner (for example, one made from ceramic, glass or metal), you will also place your wax melt into the dished area and then heat from below with a lit tea light. Always use a 4 hour tealight as larger ones can cause the wax to boil.
Unlike a candle, the wax in a wax melt doesn’t disappear as you use it. Instead, eventually, the wax will lose its scent. When this happens, you will want to remove the wax from the burner to change it over to a fresh new wax melt.
There are a few ways to remove an old wax melt from your burner. One popular way is to heat the cooled wax for around a minute and then it should simply slide straight out. Others like to completely melt the wax and then pop in a couple of cotton pads to soak the wax straight up for removal.
Why You Should Choose Wax Melts over Candles
Wax melts are becoming increasingly popular - and for good reason! Wax melts work out to be much more cost-effective than buying candles. Just 2 cubes of our wax melt snap bars cost 80p and typically last 12-16 hours! That’s 60-80 hours per bar, for just £4.00.
Some people love super strong scents, and others prefer a more subtle fragrance. With wax melts, you can control the intensity of the fragrance by using more or less per burner
We generally recommend using 2 of our wax melt cubes per warmer, however, for a more subtle scent or for a smaller room, just 1 cube can be used, too.
Wax melts offer the ability to be creative and experiment with mixing fragrances to create brand new scents. To create a mix, you simply choose 2 different fragranced wax melts and melt them together, at the same time, in the same burner!
There are so many possibilities for new scent combinations you can try!
